Liberal Member for Bowman Henry Pike has drafted legislation to keep the Australia Day date to January 26.

Mr Pike told Chris O’Keefe he is seeking to protect the 26th of January as Australia Day, by enshrining it in Commonwealth legislation.

“I want to copy the same protections under the flags act.”
