Liberal Democratic Party Senator David David Leyonhjelm is lashing out in response to the staff of federal politicians undergoing cultural awareness training.

The two-hour training course is to help staff interact better with Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders.

Mr Leyonhjelm is opposed to the training saying forcing taxpayers to pay for the training is racist.

Ben Fordham speaks with Senator Leyonhjelm.

“When you treat people of a race differently from people of another race, that’s racism by definition.

“This is an example of treating people who are indigenous, a different race, differently from everybody else’s race and culture.

“It’s a poor choice use to taxpayer money.

“Racism training…won’t stop a racist from being a racist anyway.”
