103-year-old Australian World War II veteran Bert Le-Merton has passed away.

The retired sergeant walked over 400km, the length of the Kokoda Track, and raised more than $2 million for veteran support charity Soldier On last year.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has paid tribute to the veteran, labelling him a “legend”.
