Australian surfing champion Layne Beachley has opened up on facing mental challenges in sport.

The 50-year-old shared her own stories and also provided some helpful advice to overcome mental health barriers.

The AIA Vitality Ambassador told Deborah Knight it’s important to be comfortable in our own skin and work through challenges we may face.

“It’s not what happens to us, it’s how we choose to respond,” she said.

“I have encountered my fair share of loss and heartbreak … but I have chosen to focus on the opportunity versus keeping my eyes closed and shying away.”
