Labor’s plan to deliver toll relief for Sydneysiders
Earlier this year Dominic Perrottet blocked the government’s plan to introduce new tolls on the Sydney Harbour Bridge and tunnel after concerns Sydney motorists are paying too much.
However this has cast uncertainty over future tolls for motorists.
Chris Minns, NSW Labor Leader, told Jim Wilson toll relief is needed for the whole state.
“We need to make sure that there is toll relief across Sydney, not just for those communities who live immediately adjacent to the Harbour Bridge and Harbour tunnel,” he said.
“I am particularly concerned about families in Western Sydney, there is a secret tax on them, $2.3 billion collected each year, every year out of their pocket.
“I think my focus needs to be on Western Sydney.”
Mr Minns told Jim Wilson he is urging the government not to make a bad situation worse.
“It falls on deaf ears from the NSW government,” he said.
“I don’t know how deep they are going to get into this mess, of course I am concerned about contracts they sign the NSW government up to.
“I want to make sure we have access to them so I can make a responsible decision.”
