Labor refusing to support Government’s proposed land tax

Labor won’t support the Government’s proposed stamp duty reforms when they go before parliament.

Premier Dominic Perrottet wants to give first home buyers the choice of paying upfront stamp duty or an annual land tax.

The Government has just 15 sitting days left of Parliament for the legislation to be approved before the March election.

Opposition Leader Chris Minns told Jim Wilson that there are too many underlying costs to the policy.

“I’m concerned this will come out of the pockets of young home buyers, who already have massive cost of living issues.”
