Labor promises to use stadium money to get rid of demountable classrooms

Labor has promised to take money from stadiums and inject it into permanent classrooms if it wins next month’s state election.

Shadow Education Minister Jihad Dib says he’ll redirect $500 million from the government’s $2.2-billion stadiums fund to get rid of demountable classrooms.

Mr Dib says Labor will replace 1000 temporary classrooms with permanent air-conditioned facilities.

“When we talk about priorities it’s about making sure we get kids out of these temporary classrooms into permanent, air-conditioned bricks and mortar buildings.”

He also thanks Ben Fordham for continuously talking about the matter on his show.

“You’ve raised this issue often and I want to congratulate you for that.”
