Labor’s Leader in the Legislative Council Penny Sharpe believes there’s “a bigger picture” with Stuart Ayres’ involvement with John Barilaro.

An inquiry into Stuart Ayres’ involvement in the appointment of John Barilaro to a New York trade post has found he complied with the Code of conduct.

Bruce McClintock SC carried out the independent review, which could clear the way for the Member for Penrith to return to Cabinet.

Mr Ayres has released a statement saying the Premier described it to him as an emphatic exoneration.

Ms Sharpe told Jim Wilson it’s not just “a simple wipe the sleight clean for Mr Ayres”.

“There are still significant concerns with Stuart Ayres basically just returning to the Cabinet with ‘nothing to see here”.
