Labor expected to backflip on tax cut decision

Labor is expected to vote for the government’s full tax package in the House of Representatives if its proposed amendments fail.

The Coalition is confident its $158 billion income tax package will be passed by the end of the week with support from the Senate crossbench.

Anthony Albanese has indicated they will support their proposed amendments in the Senate.

Mark Latham tells Merrick Watts Labor should pass the tax cuts and focus on wages instead.

“For Labor to pass that through I think respects the wishes of the people.

“If Albanese learns from the Shorten era it would be to focus on that issue of wages.

“A lot of Australians haven’t had a decent wage increase in four or five years and they want politicians to address that problem.”
