Lab-grown meat approved for Australian consumption after two-year review

In a move described as stepping “out of science fiction novels,” Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) has officially approved lab-grown meat for consumption in Australia, following a two-year safety assessment.
The decision, confirming the product’s safety and nutritional value, means meat cultivated from animal cells in a factory setting, rather than from live animals, will soon be available.
