It’s the moment that completely flipped the State of Origin series opener upside down and its left the rugby league fraternity divided.

With 22 minutes left in the contest, Kalyn Ponga was sent from the field for a shoulder charge high shot on Tolu Koula.

He became just the seventh player to be sent off in Origin history.

Queensland led 20-6 at the time of the infringement but went on to surrender this lead as they went down to twelve men.

“I don’t think that’s a send-off, I think he’s [Ashley Klein] overreacted there” Darryl Brohman told the Continuous Call Team.
