‘Just do it!’ Jim Wilson backs enhanced biosecurity to keep out foot and mouth disease
Jim Wilson has supported the idea of extra biosecurity measures like foot baths and bag checking to protect Australian borders from Indonesia’s foot and mouth outbreak.
This comes after the disease was detected in Indonesian livestock last week, with an outbreak in Australia potentially costing meat exports up to $80 billion.
“This is a high-stakes situation unfolding so I’m all for the extra measures,” he said.
“It’s not a big ask considering the consequences.”
Jim also encouraged the government to take the action immediately.
