Joel Fitzgibbon accuses Origin Energy of ‘milking’ coal-fired power plant decision

Labor politician Joel Fitzgibbon believes Origin Energy is ‘milking’ their decision and want money out of the government to subsidise generators for the next seven years.

Mr Fitzgibbon told Deborah Knight, “Can I just say something that Angus probably can’t say as the Minister…”

“I suspect here that Origin is milking this, I suspect they want money out of government.

“I have to say to Angus, I don’t think that’s bad policy.”

Minister for Energy Angus Taylor also told Deborah the decision to shut down Australia’s largest coal-fired powerplant is “disappointing”.

“This was a very disappointing decision and announcement.

“The greatest disappointment of all is Origin didn’t come forward with a sensible plan.”
