Australia’s former ambassador to the United States, Joe Hockey, is criticising the Australian government for overlooking local rapid antigen test suppliers.

Two Australian companies are still waiting for TGA approval, Ellume and Anteo-Tech.

16 of the 22 brands of rapid tests used in Australia are made in China.

Joe Hockey’s company advises two local test suppliers and he told Ben Fordham he doesn’t understand why the government overlooked Australian options.

“I felt it was absurd.”
