Retired major general Jim Molan has finally made his long-anticipated return to the political scene.

After the former senator was placed in the unwinnable fourth position on the Coalition’s Senate ticket in this year’s federal election, Jim Molan wasn’t able to secure enough below-the-line votes to remain in his position.

But in early November he was chosen to fill the seat vacated by former Liberal senator Arthur Sinodinos.

Today he made his return to the political scene, telling Ben Fordham it’s “very strange” to be back but he’s optimistic about his future.

“I understand what you can achieve, what’s impossible to achieve, and coming back I can see the potential, as always, for what we can achieve for the people of Australia and NSW.

“I reckon I can make a contribution.”
