The Australian columnist tells Chris Smith the Barnaby Joyce scandal is showing just how ugly the movement can be.

“People bunker down and use Twitter, for example, to carry out prosecutions.

“We have to check ourselves on whether we’re becoming too puritanical.”

Ms Albrechtsen says we should be wary of expecting too much from politicians.

“If you want perfection in parliament, we might as well close up the joint.”
