Australian students’ academic performance has dropped to record-lows despite a $20 billion cash injection.

The 2018 PISA results, comparing the educational performance of 79 countries, revealed 15-year-olds are performing at a significantly lower standard in reading, maths and science than a decade ago.

Australian students are three years behind their Chinese peers, ranking 29th in the world for mathematics.

Former principal Adam Voigt tells Steve Price other countries are spending wisely on education.

“What we are doing is banging our head against a brick wall and it sounds a bit like we’re doubling down on the approaches that have been failing us.

“It’s time we woke up!”
