Nine Commentator Mark Geyer has fiercely criticised the NRL’s 18th man rule for State of Origin, labelling it “ridiculous” that players are forced to miss club games when their chances of playing for their state are minimal.

He argues it creates an unnecessary disadvantage for NRL clubs during the Origin period.
