‘It’s not smart’: Water Minister against Warragamba Dam proposal

Article image for ‘It’s not smart’: Water Minister against Warragamba Dam proposal

NSW Water Minister Kevin Anderson has slammed the “dangerous” Warragamba Dam wall proposal.

Labor Leader Chris Minns continues to stand against raising the dam wall, instead being open to lowering the supply level by 12 metres.

There are serious concerns such a move would force our city back under the most extreme of water conditions.

A new report looking at our city’s water management over the next twenty years says if the supply level was lowered, Sydney would need to build multiple new desalination plants!

Minister Anderson told Jim Wilson the proposal is a “complex issue”.

“It’s not smart thinking.”
