Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun has described a 30km/h speed limit trial in Liverpool’s CBD as “insane”.

Transport for New South Wales has been running the trial, which has reduced speed limits from 50km/h and 40km/h, for two years

Cr Mannoun said despite the trial having good intentions, it misses the mark.

“Road safety is a very important think, and I think that’s what they’re trying to achieve,” he told Jim Wilson on 2GB Drive.

“But … it’s actually making things unsafer, because you’re spending more time looking at the speedo, rather than looking at the road.”
