One Nation’s Mark Latham is condemning the violence seen during a politically-charged rally outside a Sydney church.

The party’s state leader was due to give a speech at St Michael’s in Belfield.

Around 15 LGBTQI activists gathered outside, to protest what they were expecting to be an “anti-trans” speech, but were soon surrounded by about 500 people.

Bottles were thrown at police trying to separate the groups.

An officer was injured, and two people were charged.

Mr Latham has told Ben Fordham, he was told the activists were planning to block the street to the church.

Two people are in police custody after protestors clashed in south-western Sydney.

A group called “Community Action for Rainbow Rights” turned up, followed by another group called “Christian Lives Matter”.

Ben Fordham explains what happened next.
