The NSW Education Minister is assuring the mask guidelines for schools will be revised when appropriate.

As children prepare to return to school masks are mandatory for staff and high school students and strongly recommended for primary school children.

The mask mandate has been removed in offices after the state hit the 80 per cent vaccination milestone.

“Primary school kids should not be told to wear masks,” Ben Fordham said.

Education Minister Sarah Mitchell told Ben the recommendation “won’t be in place forever”.

“Common sense will prevail. Some kids will wear them, that’s great, others may not and that’s fine too.”
