‘It does really give people hope’: Rainfall a much-needed boost for farmers
The spirits of some farmers lifted this weekend, as their dry paddocks received much-needed rainfall.
Some parts of New South Wales enjoyed a wet weekend, with rain falling as far north as Byron Bay and as far inland as Bourke.
President of the National Farmers Federation Fiona Simson says the rainfall didn’t make much of a dent, but it’s certainly boosted spirits.
“It does really lift your hopes.
“Lying in bed Saturday night listening to the rain on the roof, waking up and having it come over again, it does really give people hope that it can rain and it will rain again.
“It does an amazing thing to lift peoples spirits out there.”
She says a “variety” of locations got up to 50mm.
