Israel Folau’s new fundraising page soars after GoFundMe snub

Israel Folau’s new fundraising page has raised close to a million dollars after GoFundMe shut down his original campaign.

The sacked Wallabies star launched a fundraising page, asking people to donate to his legal fight against Rugby Australia.

GoFundMe Australia issued a statement on Monday morning saying the page will be closed down because it “violates our terms of service”.

Now, the Australian Christian Lobby has announced it will donate $100,000 to his cause and has hosted a new appeal in Folau’s name.

Australian Christian Lobby Managing Director Martyn Iles tells Ben Fordham some people are donating as a matter of principal.

“I think what Izzy has been able to do is raise the voice of any quiet Australians who are really concerned about issues of freedom.”
