Is this the END of letters? AusPost urging the community to decide

Deborah Knight

The CEO of Australia Post is asking the community to decide whether they should stop letter deliveries.

Michelle Rowland, the Communications Minister has ordered a review to consider scaling back letter delivery and focus on parcels.

This is following a report of a record first-half letters loss of $189.7 million.

The CEO of Australia Post Paul Graham told Deborah Knight that people are urged to make a submission about what postal services they want.

“We’re looking for what the community wants us to do going forward, but the sustainability in our mail business needs to be an area focus,” Paul Graham said.

“We recognise the clear responsibility we have and those obligations are at the hands of the government but shaped by the feedback of the community.”
