Unions threat to strike over workers paying up for COVID saftey

Australian Council of Trade Unions has threatened strike action across the economy if employers do not provide workers with free rapid antigen tests and upgraded masks.

Hearing stories of workers suffering from poor work conditions and being in dangerous situations, ACTU boss Michelle O’Neil told Chris Smith there was a need for an aggressive approach.

“We want to work with those reputable good bosses who do care about their workers.”

Omicron has changed how workplaces operate, and the implementation of COVID safe procedures such as supplying RAT tests and masks is strongly recommended by the ACTU.

“Some workplaces are going to have to foot the bill for RAT tests.”
