The debate over the merits of a four-day work week has reignited amid massive changes to work practices wrought by COVID.

Business NSW CEO Daniel Hunter was hesitant to support such a move in the current economic environment, citing restricted cash flows in the bounce back from COVID.

He told Clinton Maynard the productivity and flexibility benefits would have to apply to both workers and business owners.

“We need to be careful here that it doesn’t become a cost that’s borne by business.

“If labour costs go straight up by 20 per cent, then it’s not going to work.”
