Becoming first time parents is supposed to be one of the most exciting chapters in our lives.

But at 31 weeks through her pregnancy, Stacey Zenzmaier was told the unthinkable – her baby boy was unlikely to survive.

Arden was born with congenital heart disease and spent the first eight months of his life at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. He was diagnosed with Severe Aortic Stenosis, which restricts bloodflow and his little heart was unable to pump blood to the rest of his body.

At just 2 weeks old, he had to undergo open heart surgery.

Arden spent 252 days in Hospital, enduring countless procedures, blood tests, echocardiograms, x-rays, blood transfusions and more.

But, this incredibly strong little boy is home now, and doing well.

His story, and those of other families forced to fight for life, were in the spotlight at last night’s Sydney Children’s Hospital fundraising event, SunSCHine 2018.

And you can donate to the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation here.
