Inspiring couple rolls up their sleeves for nan in need on Do Something Day

Do Something Day has revealed some inspiring stories of everyday Australians who are doing their bit for the good of the community.

But Tony and Maggie’s story has particularly resonated with Ben Fordham.

The Sutherland-based pair have eight children and nine grandchildren.

They live busy lives and somehow manage to give back to those in need, working with St Vincent’s de Paul.

Today, Tony and his wife Maggie visited a Nan in need of some furniture and she couldn’t have been more grateful.

“A mate of mine let me know a family was moving into a new premisesĀ and virtually had no furniture,” Tony says.

“Vinnies are going to help them with a lot of gear but we were able to access a fridge and line it up for delivery today.

“The lady was crying, Ben. It was so beautiful.”

Maggie tells Ben she’s pretty fond of her hubby and has “learned not to be surprised” when a new task comes up.
