Inner West Council attempts to ‘rewrite history’ and erase British street names
The Inner West Council wants to rename streets with British names and replace them with Indigenous terms.
Councillors voted unanimously in favour of investigating which streets in the inner west would work to be changed to “culturally appropriate names”.

Inner West Liberal councillor Julie Passas admitted to Jim Wilson she initially voted in favour of the Greens-raised motion so the council could “move on”.
She hit out at her fellow councillors for ‘playing games’ with matters such as climate change, drug policing, and racism.
“Half the council are from ethnic backgrounds, so if it was a racist area, they never would’ve been elected!
“They don’t bring up local issues.”
