NSW Primary Industries Minister Niall Blair is encouraging Aussies to get behind our farmers by buying local, despite the fact state parliament still uses Victorian milk.

Mr Blair is urging people to ask where produce comes from when going out to dinner or visiting the local bottle shop.

“Let’s start making those conscious decisions to back our producers,” he says.

But Minister Blair has admitted state parliament’s tea and coffee is served with imported milk from Victoria.

“Unfortunately, that is the truth.”

He assures Ben change is now in motion and he’s “quietly confident” local milk will “soon” replace the Victorian variety.

“I’m told that the catering services are now in negotiation with New South Wales processor to supply milk for parliament.”

The Primary Industries Minister says the government is also working on getting locally-sourced milk into all government institutions, including hospitals and prisons.

He hasn’t, however, given a timeframe.
