Independent candidate for Willoughby calls for ‘sustainable’ development

The Independent candidate for Willoughby has spoken about her campaign 11 days out of the state election.

The campaign aims to return planning to communities.

Larissa Penn told Chris O’Keefe that local councils don’t play a big part in “major planning decisions” and it needs to change.

“We’re getting high rise $3 million apartments rather than development that meets the needs of the community,” Mrs Penn said.

“I think more power needs to be given to those local councils so that we can actually master a plan as we grow. I’m not against development, but we need to do it sustainably.”
