A very generous couple have continued volunteering at their local Fire Control Centre on the NSW Far South Coast, despite losing their own home to bushfires.

Chris and Leisa Tague from Bimbimbie may have lost everything when fires raged through their property on New Year’s Eve, but they say that’s no excuse to stop helping others.

“We obviously don’t have a house to go back to at this stage,” says Chris, “but knowing that the guys are out there on the fire front… the least we can do is come in here and do what we can to try and help.”

“We were just grateful to have us and our family intact,” says Leisa. “That’s all that matters. That can’t be replaced.”

“It’s helped us reinforce that people always come before material items, always.”
