‘I would’ve dropped her altogether’: Should Melissa Price be in PM’s ministry?
Political commentator Peta Credlin says Melissa Price should’ve been dumped from the ministry altogether, after she was demoted to a minor portfolio.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced his new ministry following his surprise federal election victory.
The Prime Minister’s new Cabinet features a record number of women taking on senior roles, but has seen significant changes in the lineup.
Most notably, former environment minister Melissa Price has been demoted to the Defence Industry portfolio.
But Peta Credlin tells Ben Fordham she shouldn’t be in the ministry at all.
“She was such a poor performer as Environment Minister.
“He’s kept her because he wants the perception of women in the ministry and she’s now been pushed out to the outer ministry.
“I would’ve dropped her altogether.
“Let’s not have women in these portfolios just because they’re women. Let’s have our best performers.”
But Graham Richardson was less critical of the Prime Minister’s choices.
“It’s not as if he’s had to put duds in to show he’s got women. Some of these women are pretty talented.”

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has come to Ms Price’s defence, saying she doesn’t deserve to be judged so harshly.
“I know Melissa well… she has always worked hard.
“She’s pretty tough and hardened and she will continue to serve the government and the country well in her new portfolio.”
