Former Playschool host Don Spencer’s passion project has unearthed yet more incredible young talent.

18-year-old Bailey Pickles has won the National Songwriting Competition’s instrumental category with his song Spectre.

Mr Spencer, founder of the Australian Children’s Music Foundation (ACMF), told Deborah Knight the teenager is “an amazing talent”.

“I wish I had written it myself!”

Produced in the midst of COVID-19 and lockdowns, Mr Spencer was surprised by the calibre of the entries as a whole.

“Every year we just get more and more astounded.”

Budding songwriters can find out more about the competition HERE.
