Embattled telco Optus have announced an external review into the hack which saw the personal details of thousands of Australians leaked.

Deloitte have been tasked with looking into the breach as well as Optus’ security protocols.

The findings will not be made public.

Tech expert Trevor Long told Jim Wilson he believes Optus already know how the customers’ data was leaked.

“I think they know full well what happened,” he said on 2GB Drive.

“And I think they are worried about that getting out to quickly and they want a full investigation so they can get their ducks in a row.”
