NSW flood victims have been excluded from extra disaster payments and frustration is growing.

Federal Member for Richmond Justine Elliot has expressed her anger and disbelief with Ballina not getting the appropriate flood help it needs.

Ms Elliot told Jim Wilson her community feels ignored.

“They are absolutely desperate.”

The nearby shires including Ballina, Byron and Tweed have been declared disaster zones after the major flooding but were ineligible for extra payments.

“That’s a real kick in the guts for people that are doing it really really hard.”

“I think it just shows the incompetence of both governments.

Ballina Mayor Sharon Cadwallader has said they haven’t been excluded but haven’t been included.

The Mayor told Jim Wilson, “We have to get the areas to the emergency minister’s office”.

“I’m very confident that Ballina won’t be left out of this.”
