Renowned UK journalist and reporter, Andrew Neil, believes Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is making a mistake in choosing to miss the 2023 NATO summit in Lithuania.

While speaking on Today this morning, Acting Prime Minister Penny Wong declined to comment on reports that Albanese would not be attending the July summit of the western military alliance.

“I think Mr Albanese has made a huge mistake in not going,” Neil told Ray Hadley.

“NATO is the most important military alliance in the world for the defense of democracies…it’s important that Australia be represented.”

Director of Strategic Analysis Australia, Peter Jennings, told Michael McLaren that Anthony Albanese needs to go to the NATO summit in Europe, because of military tension in the Indo-Pacific region.

“If Anthony Albanese doesn’t go, the question will be, why is Australia not taking this as seriously as the rest of us?” said Jennings.
