Thousands of residents in the Nepean area are being told to conserve their drinking water due to the recent devastation of the floods right across NSW.

A warning has been issued by Sydney Water due to dirty water overwhelming stages of the treatment system and thus reducing the effectiveness of water disinfection.

Sydney Water General Manager Maryanne Graham told Jim Wilson, “It doesn’t impact people’s drinking water quality”.

Ms Graham said issues are stemming due to the “Filtration system trying to meet the high demand”.

“We are looking to have the system back in full operational mode by the end of the weekend.”

The full affected areas are:

  • Bargo
  • Belimbia Park
  • Buxton
  • Couridjah
  • Lakesland
  • Maldon
  • Mowbray Park
  • Nattai
  • Oakdale
  • Pheasants Nest
  • Picton
  • Tahmoor
  • The Oaks
  • Thirlmere
