How ‘Looking For Alibrandi’ inspires three generations of women
An Italian-Australian experience tells the story and inspires three generations of women.
Playing at the Belvoir St Theatre, a much-loved modern classic novel and a ground-breaking film is now brought to the stage for the first time ever.
It’s the last year of school, and 17-year- old Josephine Alibrandi can’t wait for her future to begin. She has to hold on to the values of the old country; and the world of her Mum, full of care and secrets.
Josie gets to know her father and this is the year she uncovers the truth – and finds the Alibrandi she has been searching for.
Actor Lucia Mastrantone told Joe Hildebrand she has a “lot of love and devotion” to this story and it inspires people to understand their cultures.
“It speaks to a lot of people that come from diverse cultures and situations.”
