How Alan Jones used Whitney Houston to coach his teams

Alan Jones has revealed how he used Whitney Houston to inspire his teams when he was a professional coach.

After leading the Wallabies to their last Grand Slam victory in 1984, Alan later switched to rugby league, working with Balmain and South Sydney.

He was best known for his ability to motivate players.

And it turns out the “the great and incomparable Whitney Houston” was a part of that strategy.

On the anniversary of her 2012 death in a bathtub at The Beverly Hills Hotel Alan played One Moment In Time, explaining how he used the lyrics in the dressing sheds.

“I coached teams based on these lyrics,” says Alan.

“It’s an extraordinary song.”

“You’re a winner for a lifetime
If you seize that one moment in time
Make it shine

Give me one moment in time
When I’m more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away
And the answers are all up to me”
