A police officer with a nursing background performed CPR on a two-year-old girl for more than 30 minutes to save her life.

Lily was travelling with her mother Sam in the back seat along Gilbert Road in Castle Hill when she had what looked to be a seizure.

Sam made a frantic triple-zero call before Highway Patrol officers were dispatched.

They arrived within two minutes.

Senior Constable Nicole Ziedan then performed CPR on Lily on the side of the road for more than 30 minutes.

Lily has made a full recovery.

“When we got there she was blue, she was unresponsive – she looked terrible,” Ms Ziedan told Jim Wilson on 2GB Drive.

The police officer was reunited with Lily and her family over the weekend, a moment she says was “very emotional”.

“But also just very heart-warming,” she said.

“Just to see her from the day we performed CPR, to the day she’s on the swings and she’s laughing and giggling like a normal two-year-old.

“It’s a pretty amazing feeling.”
