The man armed himself with a golf club and hit one of the intruders in the head, leaving him with serious facial injuries.
He restrained him until police and paramedics arrived.
The 42-year-old home invader was taken to Cowra Hospital before being airlifted to Sydney in a serious but stable condition.
The second intruder, a 59-year-old man, ran away but was arrested at a hotel in Koorawatha later that morning.
He’s been charged and will face court today.
The 21-year-old home occupant has been spoken to by police but it’s unclear whether he’ll be charged.
