Home delivery: Brave mum shares her incredible birth story

Article image for Home delivery: Brave mum shares her incredible birth story

This Sydney mother has shared her incredible labour story, detailing how she was forced to give birth on the living room floor.

“How’s this for dramatic!” says Ben Fordham.

Jessica tells Ben she went into labour last night at her Baulkham Hills home, but she was too far along to make it to hospital.

In a panic, her husband Ben, who was fortunately with her, quickly rang the ambulance only to be told it wouldn’t make it in time.

Instead, Ben delivered his baby girl at home with the help of hero ambulance phone operator Laura Turner-Cooke.

“Ben did a fantastic job. He stayed calm, he was listening to what I was trying to tell him to do.”

New mum Jessica says she’s proud of her husband.

“He did amazing. I don’t think I would’ve had any idea what I was doing if he wasn’t down at the business end helping out,” she laughs.
