Holden Commodore axed

Holden will retire the Commodore after 42 years to focus more on utes and SUVs.

The beloved car was Australia’s top-selling car for a record 15 years in a row until 2011.

The company will also axe the Astra hatchback in 2020.

Author Toby Hagon tells Ross Greenwood new Holden cars made overseas will not resonate with Australians.

“It’s been a very tough few years for Holden and I wouldn’t be surprised, in some ways, if they said, ‘well this is all getting too tough.'”
