Historic Penrith Paceway dudded by compulsory acquisition

The new Penrith Stadium will not be built on the current site opposite the Panthers Leagues Club but at a new site that will impact a significant part of Penrith’s history.

The Penrith Paceway has been a part of the community for almost 180 years.

The owners of the paceway and showground were handed an acquisition notice by the government with no clear pathway to relocating the Penrith landmark somewhere else in the local area.

“Why is the state government hellbent on acquiring the entire 11 hectare site to build a new stadium and end 177 years of community history in the process!?” Jim said.

CEO of the Penrith Paceway Tash Greentree told Jim Wilson they had no idea the acquisition was coming.

“This has come as quite a shock to us.”
