Hillsong founder Brian Houston has joined Ben Fordham in-studio to address rumours Scott Morrison attempted to bring him along during his state visit to the US.

It was reported the Prime Minister asked the White House if the pastor could accompany him to events during the official visit, but they rejected the request.

The Prime Minister and his department have refused to answer questions about the alleged invitation, claiming it’s “all gossip”.

Pastor Houston says although he’s known Scott Morrison since “well before he was in politics”, he hasn’t spoken to him in a long time and genuinely doesn’t know if the report is true.

“If people only knew how little I talk to the Prime Minister at all. It seems I’m a lot more important in a lot of people’s eyes than I really am.

“Was I invited? I genuinely don’t know.

“At first I thought ‘well no, I wasn’t,’ because it was news to me. Now I literally don’t know because the Prime Minister and I have never had a conversation about that.”

Ben also grilled the Hillsong founder about his failure to report his father’s sexual abuse of young boys to police.
