Iconic Australian variety show Hey Hey It’s Saturday is celebrating 50 years since its first episode aired with a TV special, airing this Sunday.

Hey Hey host Daryl Somers told Ben Fordham some of the original cast will return for the highlights show, in person or virtually.

“We were greatly restricted with COVID … but it didn’t mar the fun of the show.”

Ben joked the ‘Plucka Duck’ segment might not hold up in 2021, especially with animal activists PETA around.

“What about Oswald Q Ostrich, does he get a run too?” Mr Somers replied.

“I’ve checked with both of their agents, Plucka and Ossie, and they’re perfectly okay to take part in this particular production!”
