Hero paramedic describes moment after horrific shooting

A heroic paramedic has described the moment he ran in to save an injured officer after a man shot at a Sydney police station.

32-year-old Daniel King was shot dead by police after opening fire at officers at Penrith Police Station with a 12-gauge, pump-action shotgun.

Shocking video footage shows him firing bullets at police, injuring a male constable who was rushed to hospital in a non-life-threatening condition after being shot in the back of the head.

Paramedics Felicity Ralphs, Keith Craig and Lisa Burchett bravely ran inside the station to aid an injured police officer despite the potential of a supposed second gunman.

The three paramedics have been awarded a Unit Citation of Courage at the NSW Ambulance honours and awards ceremony.

Keith tells Luke Grant he is not used to the praise he’s been receiving.

“It’s a humbling experience but also an embarrassing one.”

He describes the moment they reached the injured officer.
