As double demerits approach, Jim Wilson has shared his experience as a careful reminder for motorists to be focusing on the roads at all times.

“I was behind the wheel and I went to change something on my screen in front of me, in a split second, my eyes weren’t on the road and all of a sudden I almost went up the back of the car in front me,” Jim said.

“It was my fault and to be honest it was a good wake-up call but it also got me thinking about how many distractions are there in our cars.”

Motoring Journalist Toby Hagon told Jim Wilson technology in cars is causing more distractions for drivers and changes in legislation could be on the cards.

“I think regulators are struggling to keep up as technology is moving so quickly.”
